Mobile Roof for BC Place Stadium, Vancouver - Canada, 2011

In 2008 it was decided the great reconstruction of the stadium, replacing the old static Teflon roof, with a retractable one. The automation of BC Place roof in Vancouver consists of cables supported by 35 pillars, each having 50 m height, located around the stadium.

The roof structure is similar to that implemented at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt and to the mobile roof built in Bucharest, for Lia Manoliu National Stadium.



BC Place in Vancouver was founded in 1983 and is being rebuilt this year, is the largest site of its kind in the region, with a capacity of approx. 55.000 seats. It is the main venue for sporting events (the Winter Paralympic Games, Grey Cup Championship etc), and the important international concerts. You can access the official website of the stadium here:
